Is it really any wonder that we women, who are so often credited with representing the hearts of our homes, are today becoming the very hearts of
Knoxville area’s small business community and at an accelerating rate? For the first time, women are launching new start-up businesses at twice the
rate of men. Despite this positive news, however, women experience a variety of challenges that their male counterparts are typically not confronted
with often making success more difficult for them to achieve.
Women routinely accept the primary responsibility for managing households and raising children while pursuing their self-employment ambitions
occasionally without the support of their spouse. Still other women are either single or single moms who refuse to surrender to the temptation to
abandon dreams of entrepreneurship and willingly put forth whatever effort is required to succeed. Your Opportunity Knox, Knoxville’s only talk
radio show devoted exclusively to East Tennessee’s small business community, is designed to support today’s woman in business. Every week both
on the air and online, we will offer a variety of resources to women whether you’re a would-be-business owner or already own your own business.
Your Opportunity Knox, which airs on Saturdays from noon to 1 p.m. on WNOX-FM 100 will offer inspiration, information, education and
motivation from other self-employed Knoxville area business women designed to help you succeed. Not theory from nice people with good
intentions, but the real life experiences of other self-employed women who have gone before you to achieve the dream of self-employment which
